Holiday Gift Guide 2017

Holiday Gift Guide.png

LAST MINUTE SHOPPERS I am calling to you! As a child December seemed 4,000 years long when waiting for Santa and his little elves to make and deliver our toys. Now as an adult I can’t believe were only 12 days away from Christmas… I know what you’re thinking: how did this happen and what can I buy for everyone?! So here is our holiday gift guide to pick up a few items for your mother, daughter, or friends; and of course a few for yourself.

Many of these items are what I like to call give-back gifts meaning they are from small businesses or even larger companies that give back to the community in AMAZING ways.

Beauty & Wellness Essentials: Put these items together in a gift basket or use them as stocking stuffers!

Charity Pot Lotion from Lush Cosmetics

This hydrating lotion does a lot of good for your skin and for the world. When purchased 100% of the sale is donated to small organizations helping our world in areas of environmental conservation, animal welfare, and human rights. I personally purchased the tub with Teen emPower as the representing nonprofit.

Native Deodorant

For the past 6 or so months I have been using an aluminum-free deodorant made right here in the USA. I am LOVING it. Not only is it great for sensitive skin, but Native’s main ingredients include shea butter, jojoba oil, beeswax, coconut oil, and other easy to understand neutralizers. As a heavy sweater I have to admit this stuff works! It took my body a few weeks to detox from the aluminum heavy deodorants we normally use, but now I would not go back. This may seem like a weird gift to include right? But I am so glad my mother gifted it to me!

Naked Eye shadow Palette by Urban Decay

While this one may now be a give back brand I had to include it because this palette is my all time favorite and go-to each day. I have other palettes but the original is the best (per usual). Now I am no makeup guru, but if you are a low maintenance lady trying to keep up with your looks I highly suggest this one! It’s also a very safe gift to give in the makeup realm as everyone I know enjoys these palettes from makeup newbies to veterans.

Essential Oils by Young Living

I recently started diffusing oils and let me say it’s a game changer! Pure essential oils are harvested from farm-grown plants and herbs to bring you a life of abundance and wellness. I have been diffusing oils to help me sleep and it has been amazing. I have expanded to diffusing or adding oils for allergy reasons too (you know allergy season in Texas is no joke) and I have zero complaints…plus now my house smells amazing! I went with the basic starter kit so I could grab a diffuser and set of oils to begin with, but there are single oils, animal care, personal care, diffusers, and more up for grabs on their site. While orders must be placed very soon for items to arrive in time for Christmas this is one gift I wish I could give everyone, darn finances getting in the way!

For the girl who loves to make a change: These items are from small businesses I love to support OR larger businesses that have a great mission!

Causebox

Much like the Fab Fit Fun box, this subscription service supports charities and small businesses around the world! Causebox can be ordered a single time or set up as a subscription in which one box is received each season (fall, winter, spring, summer). The products inside are absolutely to die for! For my fall box I did a live unboxing on youtube, which you can view by clicking this link, and a winter box video will be coming soon. The items inside vary from Krochet Kids signed beanies to hand carved wooden spoons from Kenya to candles hand poured in Southern California. While there are tons of subscription boxes out there this one has to be my absolute favorite.

Dream catchers by Moon Goddess Dreamer in California

I have followed an amazing woman named Tristyn via social media for years! She has always been a badass momma, but she has just started an awesome craft. This last year she has fought a crazy battle including brain surgery and caring for a mother with terminal cancer. When her anxiety spiked and worry began to overwhelm she channeled this energy into art. I ordered the periwinkle unicorn dreamer for my own home, but she is crafting like crazy and can take special orders now.

Serengetee

If you know a traveler then this is the perfect gift. Serengetee makes products (tees, backpacks, and more) with fabric from around the world. The pocket tees are my personal favorite- I own the Hoo Pocket from Japan on a crew neck tee and the Shelby Pocket (retired) on a baseball tee.

Shop Shelby + The Shine Project

As you all know, Project Rise Up’s boutique is called Shop Shelby. We provide styles designed by women for women, including the Ashley LeMieux label. The easiest gift to give from our shop is a perfect tee (the softest t-shirt EVER) or a piece of jewelry handmade by at-risk youth who are employed and mentored at The Shine Project. Project Rise Up builds its mental health scholarship fund from the purchase of jewelry in our boutique.

Passion Planner

Not only was this amazing planner designed by a student for those with busy schedules that need to write out their life in one realistically sized journal, but the company also runs on a get one|give one model. I love that you can be outrageously creative in planning life and setting goals all in one place. With purchase of a planner access to several downloadable files are available which are great to extend this planner into a financial and health log too. If you are gifting this be sure to include some colored pens and washi tape too!

Shop Small at a Farmer’s Market

I personally enjoyed the Texas Farmer’s Market at Mueller held every Sunday in Austin, Texas from 10 am -2 pm. You can buy fresh and locally made jams, cookies, and more for gifts! In my experience, men love these gifts so go take a look.

Yoga Mats by FitCouture

I have followed Jenn Richardson on Instagram for years as a fitness and fashion inspiration. She has finally decided to launch her own products, the first of which is a large yoga mat with amazing prints like mermaid scales, pineapples, and unicorns (oh yes...unicorns)! These beauties are up for pre-order, but if it's the perfect gift I know your friends will not mind waiting for this beauty to come in the mail.

12 Days of Socks from Target

If you're looking for a versatile gift that is HOT this season run to Target and find a 12 Days of Socks advent calendar. They come in women's and men's sizes styled with superheroes, Star Wars, animals, Christmas, and more! I have been opening my own sock advent calendar each day with the boutique's 12 Days of Christmas sales and it has been a fun little surprise to add to my day. These may be hard to find, but are worth the hunt.

Lets end with some winter essentials that you can go grab today or order in time for Christmas:

Colorblock Coat from Palais Royal

This has been my favorite Black Friday purchase this season. It is a coat that will not go out of style and matches everything without being boring! I’ve even been able to make use out of it in Texas. Even better, it comes in traditional and plus sizes so it is an option for everyone.

Faux Leather Moto Jacket from Palais Royal

Motorcycle jackets can jazz up any outfit; my personal favorite is pairing them with some skinny jeans and converse or a patterned dress. While leather may be all the rage faux will be cheaper and animal-friendly!

Cardigans

I couldn’t decide on just one cardigan so here are several that I love. Some of m favorites this season have also been the dusters (hit about knee length) to add a little fashion to my day.

Shop Ashley LeMieux Perfect Cardigan in sizes S-2X is seriously like wrapping yourself in a blanket. I own the olive green one and wear it as often as I can.

Shop Shelby Striped Perfect Cardigan is thin enough for Texas weather, but perfect to layer. And very soon a solid grey version is being added to the site!
